The Tim Ferris Show
Tim Ferriss is a self-experimenter and bestselling author, best known for The 4-Hour Workweek, which has been translated into 40+ languages. Newsweek calls him "the world's best human guinea pig," and The New York Times calls him "a cross between Jack Welch and a Buddhist monk." In this show, he deconstructs world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, chess, pro sports, etc.), digging deep to find the tools, tactics, and tricks that listeners can use.
* The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is because sometimes the episodes are very long, over 2 hours. That's a big commitment of time for the listener.
Host: Tim Ferris
The Tony Robbins Podcast
“Why live an ordinary life, when you can live an extraordinary one?” Tony Robbins, the #1 Life and Business Strategist, has helped over 50 million people from 100 countries create real and lasting change in their lives. In this podcast, he shares proven strategies and tactics so you, too, can achieve massive results in your business, relationships, health and finances. In addition to excerpts from his signature events and other exclusive, never-before-released audio content, Tony and his team also conduct deeply insightful interviews with the most prominent masterminds and experts on the global stage.
* Tony is the man and I love his podcasts. I've dinged the rating a bit simply because there have been fewer shows recently. But when a new episode comes out, it's usually very good.
Host: Tony Robbins
Start Here
A straightforward look at the day's top news in 20 minutes. Powered by ABC News. Hosted by Brad Mielke. Winner of the 2019 Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Innovation.
* While The Daily tends to drill deep into a specific topic for each episode, Start Here is more a daily summary of the news and covers multiple topics. It's a good way to start the day.
Host: Brad Mielke
Masters of Scale
The best startup advice from Silicon Valley & beyond. Iconic CEOs — from Nike to Netflix, Starbucks to Slack — share the stories & strategies that helped them grow from startups into global brands. On each episode, host Reid Hoffman — LinkedIn cofounder, Greylock partner and legendary Silicon Valley investor — proves an unconventional theory about how businesses scale, while his guests share the story of how I built this company. Reid and guests talk entrepreneurship, leadership, strategy, management, fundraising. But they also talk about the human journey — with all its failures and setbacks.
* Reid knows his stuff and has many interesting conversations about business and start-ups. Sometimes it's a bit too Silicon Valley focused but there are always great takeaways for businesses.
Host: Reid Hoffman
Ten Percent Happier
Dan Harris is a fidgety, skeptical ABC News anchor who had a panic attack live on "Good Morning America," which led him to try something he always thought was ridiculous: meditation. He went on to write the bestselling book, "10% Happier." In this podcast, Dan explores happiness (whatever that means) from all angles. Guests include legendary meditation teachers -- from the Dalai Lama to Western masters -- as well as scientists, and even the odd celebrity. But the show also ventures beyond meditation, bringing on leading researchers in areas such as social anxiety, bias, creativity, productivity, and relationships. The animating insight of this show is that the mind is trainable. This is what science is showing us. Mental traits such as happiness, calm, generosity, compassion, and connection are not hardwired, unalterable factory settings; they are, in fact, skills that can be trained. On this show, you'll learn how.
* Dan has a great podcast and he's a terrific interviewer who's not afraid to share his own journey. The focus of the podcast is meditation and sometimes it's too in the weeds for me but I check it each week for guests of interest.
